How to Wear White Pants this Summer

Simple white skinny pants (a good length on the model). More pant ideas below.

This long jacket is for you if you love feminine mesh and lace. It must be worn with skinny pants or you'll feel like a white blob. And, it really will look best with all white.

This one is a little more delicate and subtle than the one to the left. It's a great topper for skinny pants (might even work with capris because it's so airy) and is light weight--plus the short sleeves are a great and flattering length.

If you love florals, this top is so pretty. Long enough to wear with skinny white pants. You could run into a bit of trouble trying to put a cardigan with it because of the high neck so try it before you buy it.

Want to wear your skinny white jeans for an evening out. This is a fun, albeit dramatic, top. You'll need a strapless bra, but the black and white will be beautiful and the ruching across the tummy is concealing.

Just fun! Even with the cap (not my favorite) sleeves. Although if you really don't like the sleeves, they can easily be removed by your tailor. Love the diagonal zipper and forgiving ruching.

I have this top in two colors and LOVE it. It's comfortable, easy care and is longer in the back so it looks great with skinny pants.

These are a simple white skinny pant. They come in regular and petite (I think the tall is sold out) and she's wearing them the right (and most flattering) length.

These come in short, regular and long so make sure you get the right length (even if it has to be tailored a bit). Nice clean lines.

This is a pretty casual tank that has some feminine detailing. Lovely soft color that works on a lot of people and can be a nice change from the bright or louder prints available everywhere. (And it comes in other colors and is nicely priced.)

Pretty detailing in a floaty (but not overwhelming) design that looks great with blue jeans, navy pants or white pants.

Very versatile shirt. Can be worn as a buttoned up blouse or open with a tank under it and will work with capris or skinny pants. Beautiful springy green color.

Simple cotton capris. (Personally I wouldn't pair them with those shoes--they look (at least in that dark color) too fussy with the pants).

This is the one pair of wide leg capris (they call them gauchos and can also be called culottes) that I thought was pretty. It looks like an A-line skirt (although I would shorten it a little to right at the bottom of her knee cap to show the curve of her leg).

You can't beat this price in a cotton/poly blend capri.

Nice skinny capri -- they also come in other colors. A little more fitted than some of the others and they don't show a picture of the back so I'm not sure about pockets. This pair might look best with a slightly longer top.

It's fun to have a little detailing on the leg, but it does make it tricky (if not impossible) to shorten if needed. Also, the zippered pockets make sure they won't gap, but I would still recommend removing the pockets if they show through the fabric (although they don't look like they do).

These pants go to that elusive size 18 :-) And, they come in lots of colors in case you really like them!

There is something wonderful about pull on pants -- you don't have to deal with the button or tab sticking out when you wear a more fitted top. These are rayon and nylon so they won't be particularly cool, but they will work when the temperatures are not too hot.

I know this color doesn't work on everyone and you'd have to wear a strapless bra, but this top is so lovely and different that I had to include it. Great with white flowy pants at an elegant garden party (for those of you lucky to be invited to those events :-)

Want to wear white pants to work in a professional setting. This jacket (in a beautiful color) could do the trick. Be sure to think about what you'll wear under it -- best with either the matching tank (shown here) or white.

This top is a pretty twist on a sleeveless white blouse and, as you can see here, looks great with flowy pants. Of course, we are talking about white pants, so you have to be okay in being a vision of white loveliness!

I know...not everyone can wear yellow, but it's an example of a nicely fitted blazer that looks great (as shown here) with wide leg pants (and you don't have to tuck in the shell under it if you don't want to).

Ruching is great for concealing and this top with the diagonal lines looks great (although I'm not a huge fan of the cap sleeve). Fitted enough to look great with wide leg pants.

This is a nice wide leg jean--could be good for someone with a slightly fuller upper leg. They show it on a model in the traditional blue jean (and please note that she is wearing them too short).

I don't love draw strings, but they can always be cut shorter or, in some cases, removed completely. This casual pair of wide leg pants is perfect for a beach holiday.

Another nautical design and they are lined so you won't want to wear them in 90 degrees, but they are fun and elegant.

There is something fun and summery about sailor pants this time of year. Of course, you have to be willing to tuck in your top or the feature is wasted. They are linen so they should be cool--just have to watch the see-through factor.

A simple wide leg linen pant in plus size. I'd get rid of some of that draw string, especially if you want to wear a top over the waistband. And, the model is wearing them too short. I also think there are side pockets that might need to be closed up if they gap. Worth trying.

A very traditional wide leg pant in plus size (again, the model is wearing them too short). And, I think these come to the waist so you have to like that.

I have these pants (in white and black). They do sit at the waist and have very clean lines. So comfortable. They are lined so probably not comfortable in hot sticky weather unless you are in air conditioning all day. I highly recommend these (and they run very long so can work for someone with long legs who has trouble finding pants long enough).

A little more drama and, finally, the model is wearing them long enough!

Really nice basic linen pant (unlined). Because of the simple lines (and no drawstring!) they can be dressed up or down (yes, even with the wrinkles).

These days straight leg pants are so slim they almost look like skinnies. So, in general, you can wear any of the tops that go with skinnies with these.

I know this is pants, but who created this look?? Don't wear this with anything!

Save the distressed look for the teenagers or, if your personality really calls for it, stick to blue jeans.

Really?? Not only is are the open dots distracting and widening (they draw the eye horizontally), but the pants are too short and shoes are clunky and do nothing to enhance the leg line.

Too tight and too short.

Gathers at the waist are rarely flattering (even on this model!). This just looks frumpy.

Pleats are rarely flattering -- adding width at the tummy and hip line. Plus these are too short and too wide at the hem.

Never wear slouchy pants! They make your butt look saggy and the low crotch makes your leg line look even shorter. And, truly hideous shoes have been paired with these pants.

If these were longer them might not be bad, but you can still see the pocket through the fabric and they still have an oversized, dowdy feeling to them.
