Autumn Seasonal Tips
• AUTUMN SEASONAL NOTESWelcome to the AUTUMN!!Remember, your words & colors are: Rich, Warm, Earthy and Vibrant. Using your words will help you expand your palette from the 36 swatches in your fan to the millions of colors that belong to you! POST-SESSION ACTION STEPSSeparate your wardrobe into 3 piles using your fan:Autumn colors to one side - this pile to keep, and build towards the Autumn side!Non-Autumn colored items that you wear and still need - this pile is to keep, and to look out for replacements.Non-Autumn colored items you never wear - get rid of these! Now that you know they don’t work for you, you’ll never wear them again! For the next two weeks, wear your makeup (yes, lipstick too!) and your colors only. This will help your eye learn to adjust to what harmony looks like on you, and it will become much easier to see if a color works for you by looking in the mirror, and not at the fan. Do me a favor and count how many compliments you get in the next two weeks 😉Begin building your wardrobe of Autumn colors. Start from top to bottom, focusing on your “cameo” area first (from the top of the head to your chest), in the following order:Our hair is the only thing we don’t take off. It’s important we get it right if you choose to color it. Check out the Guide to Autumn Hair Colors in your booklet.Purchase and wear your makeup in the right colors. House of Colour has a line of season-specific makeup, check it out here! PS. Use code RAFTJILL for 30% off the website, or you can order directly through me!If you wear glasses, make sure they are in your right colors. Guidelines for specific tints for sunglasses are in your season’s booklet.Wear clothing in your season’s colors. The most important area is what surrounds your face, so your scarves, tops, & necklaces are really key!Share your before and after photos with your friends and on social media! Tag me at @hoc.philadelphia.jillrafter WORDS OF WISDOMYour Color appointment is just the beginning of a huge transformational journey. It will take time to build a wardrobe of only colors that love you, so be patient with the process. It’s totally fine to wear colors that are not in your season while you make the change - as long as you wear your makeup in the right colors and get your cameo area right, you’ll be looking great!Lipstick can be the hardest thing to adjust to. If you feel like you need to tone down the brightness a bit, try a layer of lip balm under your lipstick, or using a lip pencil in your season to color in your lips, with a gloss on top. In no time, you’ll be loving it!Many of my clients like to visit a local consignment shop after they’ve separated their wardrobe, or browse a second hand website like Poshmark to sell the items not in their season, and buy items that do work for them. It helps making the transition a lot more budget-friendly, and environmentally friendly too!
