5 Key Wardrobe Staples for Fall
While I am always sad to say goodbye to Summer, Fall dressing is one of my favourites. Layers, cozy knits, boots, rich hues & jewel tones, plaid & moody florals - I love it!
Capsule wardrobes have garnered a lot of attention these past few years. It makes sense, there is a desire to have less stuff overall, and have more versatile pieces that can be mixed and matched to suit lifestyle needs.
I don't adhere to a set recipe when it comes to wardrobe building as many factors come in to play: style personality, lifestyle needs, body type, budget etc. That being said, I believe a functional wardrobe contains key pieces - and here are some that top my list when it comes to Fall dressing: knitwear, layers (jackets/blazers etc.), turtlenecks, boots and denim.
Here is a little taste of what is out there right now that has caught my eye for some inspiration!

If you love lavender like I do, this one may catch your eye. Like the texture detail and that it doesn't look too thick.

There is something about the classic cable-knit sweater that always draws me in. Like how it is shown belted (yet I wouldn't recommend necessarily wearing it without a bottom...).

Love the colour blocking. This would be cute belted as well...

If the bright isn't for you, this comes in more muted hues. Like the neckline, weave and the fact that you can tuck it in (or leave out).

For less than $40 this cargo jacket is a great year round staple. I like the look of it layered with a light quilted piece beneath (which is a Uniqlo special!).

Why not try a classic suiting piece in a colour or print this season?

This wash of this one appears almost two-tone, dark denim easier to dress up a little and feels more Fall.

A pair like this would be a go-to basic for me, but with slight interest in the heel (added comfort with a block heel).

Combat boots are having a big moment this season (either with tread, flat or a heel). Look great paired with jeans or more feminine skirts/dresses etc.

If you have the length of leg to carry them off, you'll still see lots of tall boots out there this season. I love that these are flat and water resistant (and stylish!).

I know these technically aren't jeans, but the wide leg crop is trending this season and if you would like to try this silhouette without breaking the bank, this corduroy pair from Joe Fresh is under $40.

High waisted and a wide leg crop - if you are looking to play with a new shape in your denim...why not give this a try.
