This one sounds a little weird but hear me out. It's a tiny personal alarm that you pull apart to activate a super loud alarm to deter an attack. I have a daughter getting ready to go away to college and while I'd prefer to bubble wrap her and follow her around I know I can't legally do that. This is something small she can keep on her when she is out in case of an emergency. Think of it as mace but for the ears. Comes in a bunch of cute bright colors.

When we were growing up my dad was, and still is, a big fan of sticking a large piece of colored duct tape onto our black suitcases so we could easily spot them at baggage claim. I know, how exciting could a vacuum possibly be? But let me tell you this thing is ah-mah-zing. It's shown here at the smallest size but it comes with the full long handle so you can quickly clean under your couch cushions and grab the cobwebs in the corner of the ceiling that you know you have been staring at. These are a classic because they are sturdy and have been around forever and you will have it forever. Bonus points if you personalize it. Choose the classic monogram initials or a nickname or something to designate the contents. If you aren't yet comfortable with people starting to stand so close again you could also customize one to say Stay Away for a subtle hint at those people that won't back up and give you any room in the grocery checkout lane.
