Falling for Fall

From bright red to deep burgundy, red is the top color yet again this fall.

Pastels are unexpected for fall, which is why I love them. Pair this with any of the deeper fall colors for a nice contrast.

One more Imogene+Willie pair of jeans I am madly in love with. The Trudie Indigo Rigid. It's a high rise, a slightly tapered leg, and an especially accommodating hip, trudie is 100% cotton selvage denim that I+W spent a year creating.

Remember Levis 501s? The Imogene + Willie Ada Jennings jeans perfects the fit: mid-rise, relaxed tapered leg and classic 5-pocket construction. I+W are some of the best made jeans in the U.S. Highly recommend. I am getting a pair of these this fall.

AG's Mari slim straight jeans. Front Rise: 9 3/4" Inseam: 29" I've already tried these on, and I know they will be making it into my closet this fall.

If you've not purchased a wide leg jean yet, this fall might be a good time to try it out. Pair with a slim sweater and sexy heels (or boots).

If you still love skinny jeans, try a pair of stovepipe, which are slightly less skinny. These are Madewell. Typically, you need to go down one size in Madewell for the right fit. These would look nice with riding books and sweaters for fall.

Putting this one in the coat category. Not your mama's denim duster. Chic. Banana Republic.

Banana Republic. Coats are much longer this season. This chocolate brown is a big fall trend.

Oversized blazers work best over a slim silhouette.

I'd wear this little cardi jacket open over a printed top or silky solid shell depending on your style. It's a good length for over dresses, too.

J.Crew sweater lady jacket was a hot item last fall. It's back again! Could work for weekend or work.

A traditional cable knit cardi by Ralph Lauren. Wear it open over a dress or blouse/trousers. Several color options. This shorter length works well over dresses.

This COS trench cape is for the more fashion forward dresser. I think you could wear it like you wear a blazer and not take it off.

Madewell makes a nice leather jacket. A leather jacket is always an investment. I've owned mine for a good decade with still plenty of miles ahead.

This is 100% leather by Able, made in India. Sizes XXS-3X. Size up if you want to wear sweaters with this jacket.

Banana Republic. A leather bomber is always a nice choice.

I purchased my first pieces from COS in the early summer. I've been very pleased with this brand. This cropped jacket comes in both black and brown.

Filson has been making this flannel shirt for nearly 30 years. It's the perfect cozy weekend shirt.

Sometimes you need a nicer shirt for weekend things. This easy popover shirt by Madewell comes in three other colors. Cropped so you don't have to tuck. Nice pleating to provide a little drama.

A simple white shirt is good for weekend or work. The cropped length means you don't have to tuck it. Wear under vests, half-zips, or sweaters.

This tee popped under a leather or denim jacket with soft tailored pants on the weekend is nice but not dressy.

For the weekend, it's nice to find something that looks nice but is supremely comfy. This is where the Baukjen Billie trousers come in. Flat cargo style pockets on the front and oversized pockets on the back, as well, keeping them from looking plain.

Since purchasing a pair of olive green pants two years ago, I've discovered their great versatility. This is by AYR. Straight leg. Single front pleat. Good for casual work or weekend.

I actually wear my Athleta Endless pants for work. They are great for weekend, too, however. Very comfortable. Thicker material. Pull-on style. Sizes 0-24.

Maybe the Olympics rubbed off on me, but I think a pair of slim track pants with a slouchy sweater would be a very cool fall uniform.

The Sam Edelman Bianka slingback pump comes in oodles of colors. So chic and ladylike.

I own a "Baba" by Sabah. Mine is two tone suede. Love this leopard version. MANY color options for this fun little shoe. I also own the Sabah shoe, which has a back. The color I purchased is Fort Worth Brown.

Clog mules is a great early fall shoe. This is by Fortress, a sustainable brand located in Austin TX (shoes handmade in Peru).

It seems the woven shoe isn't going anywhere. Great for early fall before it gets too cold or spring/summer. Margaux NY

A hybrid between a pump and a ballet flat.

Marc Fisher. This deep red goes with almost all other colors. Nice pointed toe.

This is the square toe ballerina by Mansur Gavriel. It's very European looking and comes in a variety of colors. An "investment" price point. High quality.

MGemi ankle boots in a deep brown would be a beautiful addition.

La Canadienne boots are an investment but last forever. Chelsea boots are always in style.

Lug sole loafer by Cole Haan. What I'm finding with this brand is I have to size down 1/2 to a full size down.

G.H. Bass weejuns, the gold standard. Several color options.

I had a pair of Stuart Weitzman lace-up oxfords that I wore into the ground. This comes in black, too.

I love this double monk strap oxford by Marc Fisher. A nice switch from loafers.

Where are my Sambas people? This dark green is really pretty. This would make a great kicking around shoe in the fall.

Animal print is a fall no brainer. I always have a leopard print belt in my wardrobe. Pop it on with anything, including prints, as animal print is a neutral.

I can't be without an earthy tone belt. This is a gorgeous one that could be used on pants, jeans and dresses.

This green croc belt adds finish to your trousers and jeans outfits.

Even if you don't need readers, I highly recommend a statement blue light pair of glasses for fall to switch up your Zoom look and to protect your eyes.
